Lately, I’ve been binging on Helen Hayes movies. I always liked her as I was growing up. I stumbled across her mystery series called the Snoop Sisters. I don’t remember ever watching them before. Then I discovered she also played Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple in A Caribbean Mystery. I’ve seen the movie before, but not with this cast. Quite entertaining—if you like ‘80s-style productions. Besides, you can never get too much Christie.
But it gets better. As I was watching the credits, I was astonished to realize the screenplay was written by the late Sue Grafton. In case the name doesn’t ring a bell, she wrote the “alphabet mysteries,” with private eye Kinsey Millhone. The first, A is for Alibi, came out in 1982. The movie premiered in 1983.
What was even more interesting was that Millhone has her own entry in Wikipedia. Now I have a new aspiration. In addition to having my own entry (right up there next to Charlie and Geraldine), I’d love to see one someday for Torrie Madison!
